Frequently asked questions

How many HEX colors are there?

16,777,216, because each of the red, green and blue channels has 256 possible values.

What is the difference between HEX and RGB?

They describe the same color. HEX writes the three channel values in base 16, such as #FF0000, while RGB writes them in decimal, such as rgb(255, 0, 0).

What contrast ratio does WCAG require?

Normal text needs at least 4.5:1 for level AA and 7:1 for AAA. Large text needs at least 3:1 for AA.
